Nikola Tesla was a brilliant inventor, physicist, and electrical engineer who made major contributions to modern electricity. Educated in Europe, he later moved to the United States. He first worked with Thomas Edison but later cooperated with George Westinghouse and helped introduce the alternating current (AC) power system, which became the global standard. Tesla invented the induction motor, the Tesla coil, and worked on radio technology, remote control, and wireless energy transmission. His high-voltage and electromagnetic experiments were far ahead of their time, though many projects were left unfinished due to lack of funding. In his final years, he lived alone in New York hotels and struggled with health and financial problems. On January 7, 1943, he was found dead in his room at the New Yorker Hotel, with his death considered to be from natural causes. After he died, U.S. authorities seized his documents for review, and his ashes were later transferred to Belgrade.
