Joey Jordison was an American drummer, musician, and songwriter, best known as a founding member and the original drummer of Slipknot. His speed, technical skill, and energetic performances made him one of the greatest drummers in heavy metal. Besides Slipknot, he performed with Murderdolls, Scar the Martyr, Sinsaenum, and several other projects. In 2013, he left Slipknot due to health problems and later revealed that he had transverse myelitis, a rare neurological disease that temporarily prevented him from playing the drums.
On July 26, 2021, Jordison died peacefully in his sleep at his home at the age of 46. His family later revealed that he had been suffering from acute transverse myelitis. His death was a great loss to the metal community, and musicians and fans around the world paid tribute to his legacy.
