Ronnie James Dio was an American singer, songwriter, and one of the greatest vocalists in the history of heavy metal. He performed with Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell, and later led his own band, Dio. His powerful voice, unforgettable stage presence, and songs such as Holy Diver, Rainbow in the Dark, and Heaven and Hell made him a legend of rock music. He is also credited with popularizing the "metal horns" hand gesture, which became a symbol of heavy metal culture.

In late 2009, Dio was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Despite undergoing treatment, the disease progressed, and he died on May 16, 2010, at the age of 67 in a hospital in Houston, Texas. His death was a great loss to the rock and metal community, and fans and musicians around the world paid tribute to his legacy.
