Bon Scott was an Australian rock singer of Scottish origin, best known as the lead vocalist of AC/DC. As a child, he moved with his family to Australia. Before joining AC/DC in 1974, he performed with several local bands. His powerful voice, energetic stage presence, and songs such as Highway to Hell, T.N.T., Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, and Whole Lotta Rosie helped make AC/DC one of the world's greatest rock bands.
On February 18, 1980, after a night of heavy drinking in London, Scott lost consciousness in a friend's car. He was found dead the following day. The official cause of death was acute alcohol poisoning and aspiration of vomit. He was only 33 years old. After his death, AC/DC continued with Brian Johnson as lead singer and dedicated the album Back in Black to Bon Scott, which became one of the best-selling albums in music history.
