Ludwig van Beethoven (December 17, 1770 – March 26, 1827) was a German composer and pianist, one of the most influential figures in classical music. His work bridged the Classical and Romantic eras.
He was born in Bonn, Germany. Showing musical talent early, he studied under his father and other teachers. Beethoven composed numerous symphonies, concertos, sonatas, and chamber works, including the Ninth Symphony, Moonlight Sonata, and Fidelio. He is also known for continuing to compose despite progressive hearing loss.
He died on March 26, 1827, in Vienna, Austria. He was buried at Währinger Ortsfriedhof, later reinterred at Zentralfriedhof, Vienna.
