Karl Heinrich Marx (May 5, 1818 – March 14, 1883) was a German philosopher, economist, sociologist, historian, journalist, and revolutionary. He authored foundational works on economics and social theory, including The Communist Manifesto and Das Kapital.
He was born in Trier, Prussia (now Germany). Marx studied at the universities of Bonn and Berlin, worked as a journalist, and engaged in political activism. Together with Friedrich Engels, he developed the theory of historical materialism, which profoundly influenced social sciences and revolutionary movements worldwide.
He died on March 14, 1883, in London, United Kingdom. He is buried at Highgate Cemetery, London.
